Job Summary: Responsible for participating in full accounting cycle duties in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles as well as additional accounting projects as assigned.

Duties include reconciling accounts, preparing, and verifying reports for accuracy, auditing and balancing receivables and revenues for accuracy.

Additionally, will be responsible for the preparation of state and local sales use tax returns, maintaining a detailed schedule of filing deadlines and assist in the calculation of sales and use tax on invoices.

The position will also perform reconciliation of accrued sales & use tax accounts, prepare property tax returns and other tax activities as needed.

This position will be based out of our home office in Washougal, Washington; a beautiful place to work!

Ideal Candidate: Education:Associates degree in accounting; Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred.

Equivalent education/experience considered.

Experience:3+ years of experience with sales & use tax in the construction industry.3+ years of general accounting experience.Experience with multi-state use tax treatment related to construction helpful.eCMS experience is a plus.

Skills:Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be responsive in oral and written communication with associates at all levels.Able to work in a fast-paced, team environment with a commitment to achieve goals and meet deadlines promptly.Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and well organized.Strong quantitative thinkingAble to effectively manage multiple tasks with concurrent deadlines.Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.Able to analyze existing processes and implement modifications to meet the changing needs of a changing organization.Demonstrated applied knowledge of accounting software.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat Pro.

Responsibilities: Sales & Use TaxPrepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax returns for all required states.Process tax payments to appropriate agencies and verify payments to the GL, including managing tax accrual accounts.Research and resolve tax noticesMonitor Federal, state, and local tax laws that impact the company and interpret and implement changes as required to maintain compliance.Assist with obtaining audit support documentation and is an integral part in managing sales tax audits.Review Accounts Payable invoices to determine applicable use tax, as needed.Assist Controller with other federal and state issues and projects, as needed.

Staff AccountantReconcile general ledger accounts, prepares journal entries, audit work papers, budgetary projections, forecasts.Assists in accounts receivableAssists in accounts payableCompile and performs both routine and complex data analysis.Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None Physical Demands / Working Environment: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Moves self in different positions to accomplish tasks.Regularly repeats motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.Communicates with others to exchange information.Occasionally moves objects up to 20 pounds.
