POSITION OVERVIEW The Controller is a vital role to the entrance, growth and success of our retail electric business.

The Controller reports to the CSO, and performs strategic and daily finance and accounting functions, including cash forecasting, settlements, variance analysis, operational and financial accounting and applicable reporting.

This position will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team involved across all functions of the Retail and Wholesale teams.

The Controller reports to the Chief Strategy Officer, or another senior management personnel that the President of the Company may designate.

This position may be required to travel, up to 10% of the time.

This position is located in Houston, Texas, and the ideal candidate will be within commutable distance to the Houston office location.

Working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 6:00pm, with a 1-hour lunchbreak.

RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls; Assist with designing and implementing an overall risk management process for the organization, which includes an analysis of the financial impact on the company when risks occur; Perform Risk Assessment: Analyzing current risk and identify potential risk that may affect the company; Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecast and report variances; Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit; Understand our business model to contribute to strategic planning and operating discussions; Oversee settlement accuracy, including necessary reconciliations and variance analysis; Manage and maintain controls to ensure proper remittances to the ISO and TDSPs, including necessary reconciliations and variance analysis; Monitor ISO settlements for accounting and financial forecasting; Responsible for the strategy, execution, and profitability associated with retail accounting activities; Prepare projections and Forecasting Per forma with growth strategies for all forward years; Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting; Coordinate and direct the preparation of Monthly (EIA), Quarterly, Semi-Annual, Annual reporting for ERCOT, PUCT and all state and federal energy reports; Assist in monitoring and managing ISO settlements, Counterparty trades on daily basis; Cash Forecasting; Sales Commissions management; Month-end financial close processes to include preparation of accruals, and variance explanations for budget to actual and accrual to true-up/actual information, and consolidation of related entities; Manage and direct fixed assets ledger and preparation of monthly depreciation schedules/entries; Maintain amortization schedules and preparation of monthly schedules/entries; Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings; Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual financial reporting; Prepare monthly reporting for compliance with credit covenants; Prepare budgets and pro-forma statements; Oversee with the development and implementation of internal controls and related documentation; Maintaining all Accounting activity with compliance to US GAAP; Act as a liaison between Operations, Compliance, Supply and Sales; and All other assignments and special projects, as requested by Management.

QUALIFICATIONS Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or another related field Minimum of 8 to 10 years of work experience, preferably in Accounting or Finance Licensed CPA, required Retail energy experience is required, including ERCOT and other ISOs Excellent communication and analytical skills Experience with FAS 133 a plus Licensed CPA, required Energy business background, highly preferred SAP Accounting system knowledge, preferred Team player to work with Executive and management cross functions Chariot Energy provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability or genetics.
