Physician (Director of Gastroenterology

nn nnThe incumbent is responsible for the daily administrative and clinical operations of the Gastroenterology Section and reports directly to the Hospital and Specialty Medicine Service Line Director.

S/he may also work in one or all of the following units: Endoscopy Suite, Inpatient wards and Subspecialty Clinic area.

In addition, the incumbent may be required to perform General Medicine and/or Subspecialty attending duties on the inpatient wards.nn nn Duties include but not limited to:nn Admits, evaluates, diagnosis, provide treatment or consultative services to patients presenting with gastrointestinal or liver disease, as defined by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the Subspecialty Board of Gastroenterology, Performs specialty procedures as delineated in their clinical privileges upon providing competency and receiving approval.

Takes part in continuing medical education (as defined by licensure), and quality assurance activities.

Uses the highest degree of good judgment, ethical behavior and professional demeanor is required at all times in the incumbent’s contacts with patients, his peers and all other employees.

The incumbent must prove successful completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or American Osteopathic Association approved postgraduate residence in Medicine or equivalent.n nThe incumbent must be Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and Board Certified (or Board Eligible if within one year of completion of Fellowship) in their specialty.n nThe incumbent is engaged in direct patient contact or performs tasks defined by statute or recognized custom of medical practice within the bounds of state law as defined by the board of professional licensure.n n Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.n Telework Eligible: Remote eligiblen Financial Disclosure Report: Not requiredn Recruitment/Relocation Incentives: Yes n PCS: Non EDRP:Yesn nThis position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan reimbursement program.

Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.

The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.

Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.

Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.

Proficiency in spoken and written English.
