Assist the master with management and safe operation of the vessel in a fashion that exceeds highest standards within the passenger vessel industry.

Consider guest and team member safety a prime responsibility to be safeguarded at all times.Essential Duties & Responsibilities* Assist the Master in the navigation and control of vessel* Supervise embarkation and disembarkation of passengers and cargo* Manage and operate vessel within legal requirements of USCG, FCC, IMO-HSC and other pertinent regulatory agencies* Compile, review and maintain official vessel logs and other necessary reports and forms* Monitor safety issues on vessel and correct problems under the direction of the master* Assist master in role as onboard risk manager* Assist master in establishment of a safety “culture” and take corrective action as situations may require* Take a lead role in training of crewmembers* Is aware of all fire, safety and emergency procedures.* Performs other duties if required since above stated describe only a regular working day and may not be inclusive of every task needed to achieve results* Participate and ensure participation of all USCG mandated drills and emergency procedures as directedRequirements & QualificationsEducation:* HS Diploma or Equivalent RequiredProfessional Certification(s) or License:* USCG 500 Ton Mate Inland or USCG Unlimited Second Mate License, depending on vessel* Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
– if applicable, and/or ability to obtain and maintain* Valid MMC* Valid Driver’s License* Copy of DD214, if Veteran statusSkills & Abilities:* Excellent verbal and written communication skills* Ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a pleasant and professional manner* Proficiency with MS Office applications* Ability to train and supervise employees* Ability to use independent judgment and discretion* Ability to work well under pressure and handle emergency response* Logically and independently plan, organize and complete work assignmentsExperience:* Five years of experience as licensed mate or master demonstrating the ability to handle increasing levels of responsibility or an equivalent degree from a Maritime Academy in combination with command experience* Cruise industry experience preferredOther:* Must be at least 21 years of age.* Submit to and pass alcohol and drug tests as mandated by the USCG including but not limited to pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion and post-accident/incident testing.Our Values
