About the role

Market Leader is looking for a Business Intelligence Lead to join our Data and Insights team.

In this role, you will be responsible for the curation of our business-critical data sets and the continued development of our data pipelines and reporting infrastructure (Power BI or Tableau).

This means synthesizing business problems and data requests across Market Leader including our product and data science teams and creating clean, easy-to-use, and information-rich data that facilitates building data-driven product features, gathering actionable insights, and self-service reporting and analytics.

You will be working with our 24-7 streaming data pipelines that leverages modern technologies such as AWS Kinesis, AWS Lambda, Apache Parquet, SQL Server CDC, Databricks Spark and Delta.


Data Enrichment, Transformations and Cleansing:

We expect our BI Lead to have extremely strong analytical data programming skills with PySpark, SparkSQL and ANSI SQL.

You must be comfortable constructing highly intuitive user-facing datasets that rely on a combination of joins, aggregate functions, subqueries, and window functions that runs in production 24-7.

Data Modeling:

You are an architectural thinker when it comes to the data warehouse.

You identify common access patterns and demands of the data, and then design data sets that balance performance and ease-of-access using whatever tools or patterns work best for the job.

You should have an appreciation for order and consistency in data as well as experience avoiding (and taming) chaos.

Reporting Infrastructure:

We strive for self-service when it comes to reporting.

This means you should be able to intake requests from across the organization, find commonalities in what people are trying to understand, and create experiences in Power BI or Tableau that allow users to address a variety of related problems.

Expert-level analytical SQL (ideally using Databricks or Apache Spark, Snowflake, or a similar MPP data-warehouse technology) Experience with at least one other data language beyond SQL such as PySpark, Python and C# Strong hands-on experience developing and maintaining Power BI or Tableau Strong foundation in data-modeling principles, including third-normal form, dimensional modeling, and denormalization Exposure to a variety of data sets, including marketplace, e-commerce, or subscription data, as well as large-scale event data B.S.

Degree in Computer Science related fields strongly preferred
