Responsible for ensuring proper export control classification and requirements are reviewed and documented for all related parts applicable for compliance, including electronic components, LRUs, subassemblies, other related products.


  • Determine proper export classifications.
  • Serve as primary contact for export classification activity.
  • Develop and implement procedures for ensuring compliance with all applicable U.S. export controls, including product classification, jurisdiction determination, export license determination, application submission and license management, export documentation, record keeping, and auditing.
  • Draft and submit Commodity Jurisdiction (CJ) requests, Commodity Classification Requests (CCR), and export license applications, as needed.
  • Ensure continued compliance by remaining current with export control requirements.
  • Provide advice based upon regulatory analysis for exporting products, services, and financial transactions under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulations.
  • Work with business unit operations to ensure all products and raw materials are effectively managed to meet export laws and regulations.
  • Develop and conduct internal export compliance training programs.
  • Conduct briefings and counseling sessions in both group and individual settings on a regular basis.
  • Train/liaise with departments/personnel that directly/indirectly impact export and import
  • Prepare and participate in compliance audits.
  • Manage export records, including developing/implementing a record retention program.
  • Manage the development of a system to ensure compliance with the documentation requirements of export operations, including development and implementation of automated tools and processes, such as product classification matrices for exports.
  • Administer Automated Export System (AES) filing program for Electronic Export Information (EEI) filings.
  • Support Customs Compliance department goals, including both import and export operations.
  • Back-up other Customs Compliance department personnel, as necessary.
  • Ensure timely responses/guidance and completion of export projects on schedule.


  • Ability to accomplish all assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, in English, both in writing and verbally to all levels of the organization as well as external customers.
  • Ability to convey technical information as well as effectively interface with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to effectively interface with design engineers and comprehend detail product technology.
  • Ability to interpret and comprehend government regulation documents.
  • Uses professional concepts while applying company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.
  • Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
  • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.


  • BSEE or equivalent technical college level.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in electronics, project management, or related industry.
  • Some project management skills a plus.


  • Some travel both domestic and international may be required.
