Description** If you are interested in this position, please send an updated resume to Nikki Chambers at nchambers@apexsystems.com **Job Title: Transport EngineerLocation: Bellevue, WAContract: 12+ monthsMUST HAVE SKILLS (Most Important):Knowledge and experience with Granite circuit database.Knowledge and experience with IP addressing.DWDM Optical Transport systems such as: Ciena 6500, ALU/Nokia 7705 & 7750 routersDigital Communications including: Fiber, EthernetWireless voice and data service including: EVDO, CDMA, LTEDESIRED SKILLS:Ability to create Bill of Materials based off high level guidance, and research on existing infrastructure.Ability to create site level design drawings (connectivity drawings) based on understanding of wireless/networking equipment.Updating, creating records to support the above for router swap out and implementation projects.Microwave experience including: ALU/Nokia MPR9500In depth knowledge and advanced proficiency in CWDM/DWDM Optical Transport systems including: Ciena, Alcatel-LucentFamiliarity with Dark Fiber vendors, their organizational processes and standards, as well as their network portfolio maps is preferred.Knowledge of Pathloss 5 microwave design softwareProficient in office computer applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.Executive level troubleshooting, problem solving, project management, and interpersonal skillsDecision making skills (by making appropriate use of all available information and data; anticipating the future and preparing accordingly; recognizing the impact of decisions upon the rest of the organization; receiving broad guidance; being accountable for broad project results; and being responsible for the leadership of broad programs in support of organizational or area strategies)Superior organizational and planning skills (setting and communicating priorities; anticipating workload impact on resources of both self and team; delegating where appropriate; consistently following up on outstanding items; and providing focus in meetings and discussions).Ability to learn new technology quickly and apply working knowledge of wireless engineering on new projects.Must be self-motivated, show initiative, and be able to work independently.Strong interpersonal and communications skills needed.Need to be highly productive and pay close attention to detail.Familiarity with engineering and engineering economic principles preferredJOB DUTIES:Job Duties for the candidate may include the following tasks, and other duties as assigned by management. This includes being tasked with the development of an engineering database for documentation of all fiber assets and connectivity; plant, FDP panels, and IRU contract management. Providing technical support and project management for the design, acquisition, and implementation for all equipment supporting Network infrastructure projects including, but not limited to DWDM and SONET Optical transport systems deployed throughout the Network or Microwave point-to point or point to multi-point installations. Using internal tools, build equipment diagrams and provide IP addressing, validation of IP addressing, and sharing of IP addressing & configuration updates to partner teams. Creation of Bill of Materials based off high level guidance, and research on existing infrastructure. Ability to create site level design drawings (connectivity drawings) based on understanding of wireless/networking equipment. Perform the updating and creation of records to support router swap outs and implementation projects.The position regularly works with Network planning on strategic initiatives, and features and growth jobs on existing products that support our infrastructure. The position regularly works with other groups forecasts to ensure equipment growth projects meet expectant demands in support of the companys objectives. Vendor Management responsibility including engineering/design, managing budgets, procurement, and complete project management ensuring objectives are met in accordance with stated timelines.EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:Bachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience desired. 5-7 years of experience in the cellular/telecommunications industry in a Transport engineering role preferred.LOGISTICS:Shift: This position will be a standard, 8 hour, 8-5 type role, Monday through Friday.EEO EmployerApex Systems is an equal opportunity employer.
