Sr. SEM Marketing Manager

The Microsoft Global Media Team is responsible for planning, activating and fiscally managing all media spend across Microsoft.

The team works across internal Microsoft product and business groups, driving business impact by leading the development of innovative and world-class media strategies designed to meet our stakeholders’ unique business goals.

The team’s responsibilities extend to driving market intelligence and contributing to Microsoft’s media innovation across media channels and ad tech.

We are seeking a passionate Search Marketing (SEM) professional who will guide the strategy, planning, execution, and measurement of Microsoft’s global paid search campaigns spanning the Consumer and Commercial business such as Microsoft 365, Teams, Edge and more.

How you will be making impact in this role:

  • Help Microsoft achieve its Commercial and Consumer product business goals by leading the development of innovative media strategies and plans, working with our agency to ensure accurate media execution and optimization, and partner with analytics leads to deliver campaign reporting and insights.
  • Be ready to have direct impact on Microsoft’s global portfolio of Commercial and Consumer paid search campaigns by working with colleagues on global keyword governance, messaging standards, and best practices.
  • Apply your knowledge of paid search to recommend how search fits into the media mix plans to achieve campaign goals.
  • Build strong relationships with internal Microsoft marketing teams and product teams, to learn and understand their business objectives and campaign goals.
  • Ensure fiscal compliance by partnering closely with internal and agency finance and media partners to ensure all campaigns stay within budget parameters and comply with finance requirements.
  • Ensure accurate campaign creative delivery, tagging, naming conventions, and brand safety protocols by coordinating closely with stakeholders, ad operations, and agency teams.
  • Be an SEM thought leader, delivering insights and helping educate stakeholders and partners across Microsoft on all elements of paid search.


  • College BA/BS or equivalent professional experience
  • At least 5 years of paid search marketing (SEM) experience specifically in media, agency or client-side
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of global search publishers (Google, Microsoft Advertising, Baidu, Naver), related ad tech platforms (Kenshoo, Adobe Media Optimizer/Adobe Advertising Cloud, SA360, Google Ads), and competitive research tools (SEMRush, TheSearchMonitor, SpyFu, etc)
  • Experience developing and executing paid search marketing campaigns

Preferred skills and experience

  • Experience using Microsoft technology (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) and devices
  • Proven competency working across diverse teams with varied business goals
  • Able to work across a highly matrixed organization that includes internal and external stakeholders and partners
  • Able to deal with ambiguity and continued change
  • Strong communication skills.

    This position is a liaison to many teams and is responsible for representing the Commercial media storytelling

  • Ability to be agile and work in a dynamic environment
